What dog breed is good for me ?

Well to start off : I'm sixteen, and I'm looking for a dog that's MINE. I have gotten dogs before as puppies, and they always seemed to attach to my mom the most. Probably because I was never home, I was in school half the day. But now that I'm home schooled I want to get a dog for me. One that will attach to me and not my mom !! haha. As of now we have a English Mastiff she likes puppies, and will be fine with any type of dog. But I want to find the right breed for me. Preferably small. I like lap dogs & one's you can carry around. What breed is good for me? Thanks for your help !!
