I need some opinions!?

I have this guy friend, we'll call him Richie. Richie once had a long-term gf, we'll call her Natasha, and she left him. So they're trying out the whole "just friends" thing, and the other night Richie texted me saying, "Natasha texted me. :)" I thought it was cute but sorta random... I also think he sounded a bit desperate. What do you guys think?
