Will peroxide make my burgundy hair platinum?

i know that peroxide is bad for hair but so is hair dye and most hair dye has peroxide in it anyway. i've fried my hair with bleach before and while it's not very pleasing to the touch, i wasn't really bothered by it. i've heard of people using peroxide to turn their hair platinum and i was just curious as to if this really works. i'm not saying i'm going to do it for sure or not but i'd like to know exactly what will happen if i do use it, how to use it, and how long it will take for my hair to be platinum. my hair is dyed deep burgundy right now so i would imagine it's going to take a while if i do it but i only want to do it once so how long should i leave it in?
