Can you truthfull Fall in love with someone that you have never ever met before?

Ok Im not going to lie... I have tried this online dating thing most recently and over the last 4 months I have been talking to this girl who lives in Australia and I live in West Palm Beach Florida. me and her have exchanged numbers and we text each other often. So she broke the news to me that she likes me most recently. But my thing is this...she doesn't even KNOW ME!!!! How can she really like me? How do I know that the person that I'm talking to isn't some CRAZY KILLER or anything. I mean she seems really nice and everything but how do I know that the person that Im talking to is the real person? I mean she could have put any picture up and just possed to be that person! I guess I'm a bit of a doubter with the notion of falling in love online especailly from accross seas. So can you fall in love with someone you never ever met before! I mean there evenutally has to be a time where we both have to meet, but what if I meet her and she is nothing like what she portrays herself to be online, then it would have been a waste of time. For me I think in order to completely love someone you have to expeirence them first hand, and via email long distance is not first hand at all. So is it possible?
